Please, no more!

Hey kids, I just want to give you the heads up before you visit Korea - Bring your stomach. Korean food is incredibly cheap ( I never payed more than 12 dollars for a meal, even when we ate and drank for 2.5 hours). Also, the Kimchi and other traditional food is typically free. So at every meal I had in Korea, there were about 8 courses. This would explain the fact that I saw WAY more overweight people in Korea than Japan...but MAN that kimchi is good!!! You also need to check out Soju. Its Korean vodka that goes down like candy. Just be very very wary, that stuff will sneak up on you. I wish I had more cultural advice. But I guess drinking and eating is Korean culture. Its the best kind of culture! Peace

Welcome to Korea, Population: Fully Armed

Hey folks- here is the first post on Korea. But before I begin, let me just state for the record that Japan is truly amazing, and Korea probably takes 2nd or 3rd place. Well, let me just walk you through my arrival, starting at the Incheon Airport. After getting my luggage, I walked out to see 2 police officers holding fully automatic machine guns. Korea does not play around. Like america, the police officers carry guns (In japan however, the police officers are typically 40+ years old and carry plastic batons to direct traffic). Anyways, I converted my $400 into like 3 million won, and got in my friends car to drive to Seoul (actual conversion is about 1$ to 980 won). In Korea, many more people drive, and they drive on the right side of the road-just something I noticed. The public transportation system is not as massive, but it is certainly cheap -about 1/3 the price to travel compared to Japan. While driving to Seoul I noticed a lot of open space. But once I arrived in Seoul, Korea began looking more like Japan...but more dirty. The city was big and exciting, but I just felt dirty walking around. It was kind of like being in Washington DC now that I think about it. Well, this is getting long so I'm going to wrap this up, but I will get back to you all soon. Anyong!
